Fr. John Warrington say Farewell to Parish (9th September 2011)
Tears of joy and sadness as Fr. John Warrington says farewell to his parish in Peterborough.
After 8 years as parish priest of St. Luke's, St. Benedict's with St. Bartholomew's Community, Yaxley and the Hamptons, also as Chaplain to St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School, Fr. John's appointment take him to Ipswich and the parish of St Mary's.
Fr. John has also been appointed Diosean Director for Vocations.
As I make my final preparations to move to St Mary’s, Ipswich on Monday, I would like to say a big ‘Thank you’ to all of you for the last 8 years, for all your friendship, care, love and support. Thank you to all who came along on Friday evening, a wonderful evening and many thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make it such a memorable evening, and for the very generous gift from everyone in the parish of £2500 to me, thank you. Thank you also for the many cards and gifts you have been so generous to give to me. It has been a privilege to serve as your parish priest, to share your faith journey and to be part of your lives. I take with me so much more than I can ever put here in simple words. Now as I follow the call to serve the people and community of St Mary’s, Ipswich I will keep you all in my prayers and ask for your prayers. Along with moving to Ipswich, I have also been asked by Fr David Bagstaff, our Diocesan Administrator, to take the role of Diocesan Vocations Director from next week. So I would ask your prayers for this important task, for vocations and for Henry, Simon and Ben who are studying for the priesthood for our diocese. With every blessing and all my prayers. Fr John
