Diocesan Youth CouncilThe Diocesan Youth Council is a representative body of young people from across the diocese aged 16 to 21.
Their Mission Statement is 'A council representing and giving voice to young people in the Diocese of East Anglia, and working to encourage, promote and enable the unity and participation of young people in the life of the Church in each parish and deanery and in the diocese as a whole'. They meet together five or six times a year and recent meetings have focused on planning youth events for the Diocese and writing letters campaigning against human rights abuses. The Knights of St. Columba support this Youth Council getting involved with major fundraising events and activities such as World Youth Day—Madrid 2011. Here a group of 57 young people including the two newly ordained priests (Fr Luke Goymour and Fr Michael Collis) and two seminarians (Henry Whisenant and Benjamin Grist) have received the sponsorship of the KSC who provided the Polo Shirts, Baseball Caps and Holdalls for this Pilgrimage Event. The group travel to Spain on 10th August 2011. |
PAST GRAND KNIGHT JEWEL FOR BROTHER VERNONOn behalf of the Supreme Knight, Bro. Joseph Rodriguez, the Provincial Grand Knight, presented Bro. Vernon Watts, now the Immediate Past Grand Knight of Council 206 Ipswich his well earned Past Grand Knight’s Jewel.
The presentation was made at Lowestoft, on Sunday 5th June 2011, after a fantastic KSC social luncheon and at the end of the quarterly Provincial Meeting. It was witnessed by members of his Council and representative from each Council throughout the Province. Bro. Vernon was Grand Knight of Council 206 -Ipswich from April 2008 to March 2011.
